Say Goodbye to Stubborn Fat.
It’s called stubborn fat for a reason: no matter how much you eat healthy and exercise, it’s virtually impossible to lose those annoying muffin tops, love handles, and belly pooch. You’re left with two options: live with them or think surgery. Neither is cool by us. Only CoolSculpting targets fat cells alone, eliminating them in an easy, non-intrusive fashion that exercise and diet can’t achieve as quickly or as effectively.
The Cool Solution is the More Natural Solution.
Procedures that use laser, sonic waves and even surgery to remove fat can actually destroy other tissue in the process by burning, shattering or extracting non-fat cells. This requires downtime for your body to heal. Totally uncool. Fortunately, CoolSculpting doesn’t burn, shatter or extract any cells. Developed by Harvard scientists, our unique, FDA-cleared, patented procedure uses a targeted cooling process that kills the fat cells underneath the skin, literally freezing them to the point of elimination. Only fat cells are frozen. Your healthy skin cells remain, well, healthy. No knives. No suction hoses. No needles. No scars. Once crystallized, the fat cells die and are naturally eliminated from your body. In a few months, boom: say hello to a new you.
Minimal Downtime and Lasting Results
Most patients have little to no downtime with Coolsculpting. There are very few side effects reported after treatment and most go away within a week or two.
After one visit, you’ll typically see a noticeable reduction of fat. It takes, on average, 60-90 days for your body to dispose of those fat cells. You can lose even more with additional appointments if you and Dr. Brou deem it necessary.
After a few months, your clothes will fit better and you will look better. There are no pills or supplements. And as long as you maintain your normal diet and exercise, your results will be long-term. Hello, you again. How cool is that?
Most Common Questions About CoolSculpting
1. Who is a good candidate for this treatment?
CoolSculpting was designed for patients who have a little exercise/diet resistant fat in various areas of the body. Since the machine uses a vacuum to suck your fat into the hand piece, this is perfect for areas that you can literally “pinch an inch”, as Zeltiq says. This procedure is not designed for someone who needs global fat reduction or anyone with a lot of excess skin. Liposuction or a tummy tuck by Dr. Brou or Dr. Masters would be more effective in those instances.
2. What areas can you treat with Coolsculpting?
You can treat the upper and lower abdomen, love handles, upper back, under arms, knees, thighs, and under the chin with this procedure.
3. Does the procedure hurt?
The treatments are very comfortable and should not hurt at all. After we take the hand piece off, we will massage the area for about 3 minutes. This will increase your chances of successful fat cell death, but can be a little uncomfortable or tickle. After you go home, you can experience numbness, bruising, or nausea. This should not last more than a few days to a week.
4. How do the fat cells die? Where do they go?
Scientists have discovered that if you take fat cells to right above freezing level for an extended period of time, cell apoptosis (or cell death) occurs. This makes the fat cells crystallize and the body will naturally dispose of them within 60-90 days. Since we prefer that you have 2 treatments per area, we never call your results final until 90 days following your last treatment.
5. How much fat will I lose?
You can expect a 20-25% reduction of fat with each treatment. We recommend each area is treated at least twice for more dramatic results. We like those treatments to be spaced at least 30 days apart for the comfort of the patient.
6. If I eat poorly or stop exercising could my fat come back?
As with all fat reduction methods, including liposuction, you must maintain your weight to keep your results. The fat cells that die will be disposed of and you do not “grow” new fat cells, however, the remaining cells can become bigger. Therefore, you can ruin your results without maintenance.
7. If I have excess skin, will CoolSculpting tighten it?
CoolSculpting is not indicated for skin tightening. In younger patients with nice elasticity of their skin, they may see a small rebound after treatment. You can use Ultherapy for skin tightening of the face, neck, and chest. Overall, though, if you need excess skin removed, it is best to have a consultation with Dr. Brou or Dr. Masters about surgical interventions for that issue.
8. Are there any medical conditions that will prevent treatment or decrease efficacy?
CoolSculpting is not indicated if you have a medical history of any cold related diseases (i.e. cryoglobulinemia). It is also not recommended to perform while pregnant or breastfeeding. Any diseases or conditions that impede your body’s healing process can decrease the effectiveness of the treatment – such as diabetes, certain vascular diseases, or history of smoking.
